Throwback Glam! (Day 9 of the 12 Days of Glam!)

12daysofglam Christmas family Holidays tbt vintage

Here we are as in olden days; Happy golden days of yore

Faithful friends who are dear to us; Gather near to us once more

Through the years we all will be together; If the fates allow

So hang a shining star upon the highest bough; And have yourself a merry little Christmas now

One of the most touching and funny parts of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is when Clark is accidentally left behind (and stuck in the attic!) while the rest of the family goes shopping for presents.  To pass the time while he’s up there, he watches old family movies of Christmases from his childhood.  Our vintage-loving hearts adore that he’s wearing his mother’s old fur stole, hat, and gloves.

As you know mixing vintage and modern clothing is one of our favorite looks.  If you’re hosting friends and family for Christmas, throw on an adorable vintage apron.  It’s a double-duty item since it protects your clothes and makes you look super cute!

Now is also the time to don your favorite piece of vintage jewelry to add a little sparkle and glam to your favorite sweater!

Now that you’re glammed-up for your gathering, take a few minutes to reflect on family and friends and years gone by.

The holidays are a sentimental time and for many it’s a tradition to reminisce about childhood and other family members.  We love to look through old photographs and tell stories to our children about when they were little.  Children enjoy hearing stories about themselves and especially about their parents!  Share stories with them about their grandparents and other historical family tidbits.  Use the family china, or silver, or a special dish that was treasured by your great-grandmother!  Break out grandma’s recipe for sugar cookies or your great-aunt’s recipe for fudge!  These may seem like little things, but it's how we keep alive the memory of our family members that have passed for the next generation.

So glam yourself up, reminisce with family, and enjoy your holiday!

Fashionably yours,
